Redball Self-Propelled Sprayer

The new Redball Self-Propelled Sprayer sports clean lines, an aggressive stance and performance features designed to maximize productivity, ease of use, longevity and serviceability. The sprayer integrates a state-of-the-industry power train and cab with features that include a 1,200-gallon stainless steel tank, an innovative boom design and ergonomic control systems that bring new meaning to the term user-friendly.

Engine, drive train, frame and running gear: The sprayer’s 2WD mechanical drive train is powered by a 275-horsepower 6.8 liter John Deere diesel engine that meets new Tier 3 emission standards. The wheelbase is 14 feet and the overall sprayer length, 23 feet. The turning radius is 15 feet. Crop clearance is 48 inches. Front and rear wheels are shod with 14.9X46 tires. Heavy-duty disc brakes are on all four wheels. Engine and transmission dipsticks can be accessed without opening the hood. Drive shafts are heavy-duty, with decreased angles for longevity.

Cab and controls: The sprayer’s command center is housed in an air-conditioned John Deere pressurized cab with an air-suspension operator seat. The engine throttle is controlled with a foot pedal and an RPM-based cruise control, which includes a resume feature to maintain uniform field speed after turns. The spray switch also is foot-operated. An analog gauge cluster is mounted on the steering post for at-a-glance monitoring, backed up by an electronic array.

Boom and spray system: The sprayer features a proven lattice-truss pendulum boom designed by Knight Farm Machinery, LTD, whose boom designs can be found on market-leading self-propelled sprayers in North America and Europe. The boom, which is available in 80’ and 90’ widths, has a hydraulic locking center section that controls boom tilt and allows boom sections to be folded independently. Control valves are grouped at the center of each section for faster shutoff response time. The sprayer’s 1,200-gallon stainless steel tank includes an integral 140-gallon rinse tank at the rear.
